PESTS CONTROLLED:

CropProtect® 25EC is a liquid grain protectant for the fabric of building and admixtures for the control of stored product pest including crawling insects such as grain weevils (Sitophilus granarius), flour beetles (Tribolium castaneum), grain borers (Rhyzopertha dominica), sawtoothed grain beetles (Oryzaephilus surinamensis) and bean weevils (Acanthoscelides obtectus) and flying insects such as warehouse moths (Euphestia cautella), rice moths (Corcyra cephalonica), Indian meal moths (Plodia interpunctella) and grain moths (Sitotroga cerealella).

APPLICATION:

The residual life of the treatment depends on the type of application and the surface. Complete direct admixture with grain and pulses. Cropprotect® 25EC is diluted with water and applied using low-pressure nozzles situated over the conveying machinery, as near to the final storage place as possible. The application rate should be adjusted to apply 1 litre of solution per tonne of grain/pulses. Dilute 1 part CropProtect® 25EC with 99 parts water (1 litre of concentrate to 99 litres of water treats 100 tonnes of grain/pulses) to provide up to 12 months protection against listed crawling insects and up to 3 months against listed flying insects i.e. moths.

Treatment of grain storage buildings/equipment. There is no waiting period between treatment and use of buildings/equipment. However, for maximum efficacy treatments should be applied to a previously cleaned store, 3 to 4 weeks before filling. The store should be thoroughly swept or vacuumed to remove all loose fragments and previous stored crop waste that could shelter pests. This debris must be burned or disposed of well away from the building. Guidance on cleaning of grain stores can be obtained from the ‘The grain storage guide’ published by the Home-Grown Cereals Authority (HGCA). The performance may be impaired on concrete surfaces.

• Use a knapsack sprayer equipped with a low-pressure nozzle producing a medium to coarse spray.

• Absorbent surfaces (e.g.unsealed wood and concrete) - Add 20 to 30 ml of CropProtect® 25EC to each 5 litres of water. Spray at a rate of 5 litres of solution per 50 sq metres.

• Non-porous surfaces (e.g. metal, sealed wood, sealed concrete) - Add 40 to 60 of CropProtect® 25EC to each 5 litres of water. Spray at a rate of 5 litres of solution per 100 sq metres. The treatment provides 2 month protection.

RESISTANCE

Where strains resistant to Deltamethrin occur or develop, effective control will not be achieved.

Associated Materials:

Benefits of Deltamethrin as An Active – Broad spectrum highly effective control, achieves reliable control of flying and crawling stored product insects with a relatively lower dose of insecticide compared to traditional options with persistent residual effect for up to three months

Resistance Buster – Traditional options for use in grain stores have been organophosphates which now have to compete with widespread resistance due to prolonged use – CropProtect® uses an alternative active from a different family of chemicals that have not demonstrated such resistance, coupled with the active’s higher potency and incorporation of Piperonyl Butoxide to further increase effectiveness.

Favorable Safety Profile – Deltamethrin is generally considered safer to use than organophosphate products due to reduced mammalian toxicity in comparison. Organophosphates are indiscriminate in attacking the insect or mammalian nervous system – pyrethroids are far more specific to the insect nervous system.

USE BIOCIDES SAFELY. ALWAYS READ THE LABEL AND PRODUCT INFORMATION BEFORE USE.
